Destitute and neglected, the historic Mennicza Granary had lost the majority of its attributes. All that remained were tell tail signs of its original scale & form.
Our brief was to carefully and painstakingly renovate what remained of this medieval landmark and to create a new and contemporary boutique hotel.
The renovation was as much about the inherent historical value of the building as it was about innovation and metamorphosis. What had originally been a store for grain within a sealed pitched roof evolved into a container of human activities within a glass transparent box, filtered by timber louvers.
